Lost Places - Chornobyl Zone

Pripyat’s factory "Jupiter" - one of mysterious and confidential places of the Zone... Anyway it was, while approximately one year ago, “Spezatom" undividedly owning of this "treasure", has lost to it former interest and has simply moved down from "the occupied area". "Jupiter" becomes unnecessary to them. I was interested in this object for a long time, but somehow al the time it was not a right time for visit: I have no time, or the “Spezatom” is not care about me. And here at last I have got on this enigmatic and mysterious object.

Pripyat’s factory "Jupiter" - typical "mail box" of times of the USSR. I.e. greatly secret manufacture of something for the military issue... In general it was very popular to work on defense industry - is it was prestigious and gainful in USSR. And considering "peace" character of our state, on defense industry worked practically everybody – starting from state farm on cultivation of a perch and finishing by institute of nuclear physics. Certainly officially factory "Jupiter" was a branch of Kyiv factory "Mayak" and it was maded such nonsense, like rollers of tape drive mechanisms for household tape recorders and other little significant small things. But actually the mysterious “product №_" was the basic production of this enterprise (there is a long combination of figures, clear only for the most consecrated persons :). As far as I managed to find out from people involved in manufacture of this device it was “like cabinet computer" or the module for any computing military complex... This, in general, is all the information.

After failure on ChNPP, "Jupiter" has got to a category of those objects which "is a pity to throw and to wash clean is difficult"... Those liquidators who in 1986 has been directed on factory deactivation, recollect the ineffectual work with despondency - because "Jupiter" has hooked edge by "Western track"...

And then, for many long years "Jupiter" has goes to "Spezatom" possession. Here were engaged in designing and test of a robotics for object "Shelter", and in the former factory premises dosimetric laboratories have been equipped.

We wander on huge cases of factory, we come into laboratories and offices. Its worth to look... For now. Still it is a lot of machine tools, the various equipment and devices. Will pass very few time and these premises will become empty and become similar to all "Zone" objects - empty and pure...

Yes, by the way! To a question on cleanliness. In a factory cellar various laboratories, including "cameralka" (a warehouse of various investigated materials and tests) have been organized. A magnificent place for fans of vaults and an extreme :). Here, among shelvings with reactants, test tubes and gallipots we have find a metallic box modestly standing in a corner, with some black sand... “Shine” from a box 160 mR/h... Well and by beta – more then 200 thousand cpm.
